Where memory is honored, flavor is layered, and every guest is part of the tale.
At 228 North Market Street, six sisters built a house in 1890—brick by brick, stair by stair. It was a bold act for their time, not just to live, but to live on their own terms. Their names were Catherine, Georgianna, Elizabeth, Emma, Matilda, and Ellen.
We like to think of the house as the seventh.
The 7th Sister is the building itself.
She remembers everything. The lace curtains. The garden quarrels. The quiet dinners. The wide windows. She carries the legacy of the sisters who built her—and now, she’s ready to tell new stories through the ones who walk through her door.
This isn’t just a restaurant. It’s a living memory.
Led by Chef Christian Blouin—former Executive Chef at Firestone’s Tavern, and a chef who lives and loves downtown Frederick—our menu is built on coastal flavors, seasonal ingredients, and small creative flourishes that surprise and comfort all at once. From blackberry-dressed oysters to Old Bay risotto and house-cured pork belly, everything here is crafted with intention and presence.
We cook with memory. We serve with care. We gather with purpose.
7th Sister is also part of a larger vision. Alongside our nonprofit partner, SilverVox, we’re transforming this house into a cultural home for Frederick—supporting artists, filmmakers, musicians, and performers as they create the next layer of story inside these walls.
And yes—some nights, the building will speak.
In melodies drifting from the upstairs theatre. In laughter rising from the lounge below. In the flicker of indie films casting shadows on old walls. In the quiet pause between courses—where something lingers.
We hope you feel it. The reverence. The welcome. The wonder. While the six sisters built the house,
The seventh is the house herself.
And she remembers everything.
